Brother Printer Mfcl200dw Problems With Feeding Sheets
1. Remove the paper tray completely out of the machine.
2. Lift the Output Paper Tray Cover and remove any paper loaded in the tray.
3. Close the Output Paper Tray Cover.
4. Clean the Separation Pad(1):
- Using a lint-free cloth lightly moistened with one of the following:
- A non-flammable glass cleaner.
- Rubbing (isopropyl) alcohol.
- Water.
- If you don't have a lint-free cloth, use an alcohol prep pad (such as the kind that can be found in a first aid kit or medicine cabinet).
Don't use any sort of rough or abrasive cloth (like a napkin or tissue) as the fibers can damage your machine .
5. Adjust the Paper Guides:
a. Gently press and slide the paper width guides (1) and then the paper length guide (2) to fit letter size paper. Make sure the triangular mark (3) on the paper width guide (1) and the paper length guide (2) line up with the marks for the paper being loaded into the tray.
b. Fan the stack of paper well to avoid paper jams and miss-feeds.
c. Load the paper into the tray with the printing surface face down in Portrait orientation.
- Don't push the paper in too far because it may lift at the back of the tray and cause paper feed or jam problems. d. Ensure the paper length guide touches the edges of the paper. Re-adjust the paper guides to fit the width and length of the paper. e. Make sure the paper is flat in the tray and below the maximum paper mark. - Overfilling the paper tray past this mark may cause paper jams.
Don't use any of the following types of paper:
- Damaged, curled, wrinkled, or irregularly shaped paper.
- Extremely shiny or highly textured paper.
- Paper that can't be arranged uniformly when stacked.
f. Close the paper tray cover.
g. Set the paper tray to the side
6. Clean the Paper Feed Rollers:
a. Unplug your machine from the power outlet.
b. Place one of your hands under the control panel and into the opening where the paper tray was installed.
c. Using your hand, life the machine approximately 6-inches off the surface.
d. Inside the paper cavity there are 2 gray paper pick up rollers.
- Clean the gray rollers using a lint-free cloth lightly moistened with one of the following:
- A non-flammable glass cleaner. - Rubbing (isopropyl) alcohol. - Water.
- If you don't have a lint-free cloth, use an alcohol prep pad (such as the kind that can be found in a first aid kit or medicine cabinet).
Don't use any sort of rough or abrasive cloth (like a napkin or tissue) as the fibers can coat the rollers and damage your machine .
- Make sure the rollers are completely dry before reinstalling the paper tray.
e. Carefully lower the machine down onto the surface.
7. Reinstall the paper tray.
8. Plug your machine back into the power outlet.
9. Make a copy:
a. Press Copy.
b. Enter 1, 0 on the number pad to enter 10 copies.
c. Press Black Start.
- Your machine will generate 10 blank pages.
- If your machine feeds all 10 pages, one page at a time, your issue has been resolved.
- If your machine still tries to pull in multiple sheets of paper at once, try cleaning the Separation Pad and Pickup Rollers again.
- If you have cleaned both at least twice, your paper tray will need to be replaced. Go to Warranty and Service Options.
